Dave & Sherry Johnson
Dave and Sherry are venture partners with Merri and me and David Cross in the Positive Community Magazines. Dave and Sherry moved to Asheboro, North Carolina, a town voted by Forbes magazine as one of the worst ten small towns economically in the USA. After being clobbered in the last economic downturn they rose like Phoenix rising from the ashes and created Small Community Magazines that bring good news to the community and earn the publishers excellent profits. They are helping to expand this community concept globally.
David has an unparalleled, hands-on marketing experience spanning 25 years in 22 countries for companies and charities large and small. He’s guided many companies and individuals to success in business and helped them achieve their marketing goals, both online and offline. He started working with the internet from the getgo and I have been lucky that he helped us start our website in the 1990s.
He was also Senior Internet Consultant to Agora Inc. in Baltimore, MD. David worked closely with Agora’s publishers and marketers and over an 8-year period helped to propel Agora’s online revenues to over $300 Million in 2009 until he came to work with Merri and me full time.
Our friend, Bob Gandt, published his first story at age sixteen – the same year he first soloed an airplane. Since then he has logged something over 25,000 hours, written and published thirteen books and countless articles.
Gandt’s flying career has been as eclectic as the subjects of his books. He has been a Navy fighter/attack pilot, weapons test pilot, flight instructor, air show performer, and airline captain.
At age 20 he was at the time the youngest aviator in the U.S. Navy. As a carrier-based attack pilot, he logged over 300 carrier landings and nearly 2,000 hours in the A-4 Skyhawk. In his 1997 deja vu work, Bogeys and Bandits (Viking Penguin), he joins a Navy F/A-18 training squadron at the same base where he had trained years before.
In 1965 he began his career as a pilot for Pan American World Airways. For the next 26 years he flew around the globe, domiciled in places like New York, San Francisco, Berlin, and Hong Kong. His 1995 book, “Skygods” (Wm. Morrow & Co.), recounts the meteoric descent and crash of the once-great Pan Am.
In 1998 Bob made his screenwriting debut on the CBS series “Pensacola: Wings Of Gold”. Drawing on the material from his book “Bogeys and Bandits”, he worked as writer and technical consultant for the twenty-two-episodes, which starred James Brolin as the commander of a Marine F/A-18 training squadron.
Bob’s sixth non-fiction work, “Intrepid”, co-authored by Bill White, with a foreword by former naval aviator and presidential candidate John McCain, was published in the autumn of 2008. In November, 2010 – “The Twilight Warriors: The Deadliest Naval Battle of WWII and the Men Who Fought It”, from Broadway Books.
In 2011 The New York Commandery of the Naval Order of the United States announced that Bob was winner of the 2011 Samuel Eliot Morison Award for Naval Literature.

Dr. Andres Cordova
Dr. Andres Cordova speaking at our seminars.
An example of Ecuadorian kindness is Dr. Andres Cordova. Andres is our friend and attorney. He is the grandson of one of Ecuador’s more famous presidents. He is a senior partner in a law firm that represents Ecuador’s treasury.
Yet to me he is an example of how Ecuadorians are willing to help others in so many ways.
For example, we warn our delegates and readers to stay away from the Mariscal Sucre area in Quito. This is a very touristy area that many of the tour agents promote. This area is loaded with very clever pickpocket type thieves. Regretfully some delegates do not mind our warnings, as was the case when a delegate from our course, on his way back to the US, visited this area. His carry on bag was stolen (in a tricky but non aggressive way). He lost everything, passport, wallet, car keys, credit card, driver’s license, computer. He was stranded with $3 left in his pocket.
Fortunately he called us in Cotacachi. I called Andres who immediately left his Sunday afternoon lunch and within the hour had picked up our delegate, given him $200 cash and sent him back to us in Cotacachi. (The US Embassy would not help the delegate until Monday.)
This is not the first time Andres has gone out of his way to pull a delegate’s irons out of a fire. A few years ago, a delegate arrived for our Import-Export Expedition. The delegate had journeyed to Peru first and purchased many huge bags of goods to take back to the US . Naturally Ecuadorian customs wanted to tax them. Though it was nearly midnight, one call to Andres got him working and he immediately sorted the problem out.
Another reader sent me this note. Wanted you to know that Andres handled the closing on my place and would not charge anything…Nada, 0..Maybe that was his way to make up for his sometimes slow response time…..In any event that is impressive..Hope you are well. We will be in Argentina most of November, then to Nicaragua and Panama in January…One of my sons in selling property in Panama ..Cheers,.Ed
Jean Marie Butterlin
Jean Marie Butterlin heads Ateam Ecuador and conducts Ecuador multi dimensional farm real estate tours.
Jean Marie Butterlin (center), Pascale Butterlin.
Jean Marie has studied and worked with Merri and me for over a decade when he began his natural health business in the USA,.
He was born in France and after graduating in 1977 from the engineering college ICAM in Lille (France) moved to United States where he developed a homeopathic and dietary supplement business in Houston TX, with an aim at exporting the US made products into Europe, with emphasis towards Belgium and France.
After living part time on both sides of the Atlantic he moved back in 2002 to Europe where he has a prosperous business in the natural health field i.e. phytotherapy, mineral supplements, specialty cosmetics, as well as Quantum medical technology, internet publishing for the anti-aging market.
This quest for anti-aging remedies, products and techniques has lead him to live in Ecuador with its valleys of longevity, where he is researching and developing new approaches to live longer and better and bringing new products and techniques to more and more people in the United States and Europe.
Jean Marie began working with us on our real tours several years ago and moved with his family to Ecuador.
After more than a dozen years of traveling… working… buying and selling real estate and running businesses in Ecuador… we turned over the day to day reins of real estate Ecuador service and real estate research to Jean Marie Butterlin. He began scouring the beaches from Cotacachi to Cuenca, from Salinas to Manta, north to Pedernales… finding the bargains…. meeting the landowners… understanding the rules, regulations and customs.
The experience has made him an expert on Ecuador living and real estate so that bargains can be found and so Ecuador Living readers can overcome Ecuador properties’ biggest problems and intelligently buy real estate.
Jean Marie Butterlin recently reported that his second beach home…. secluded overlooking this…
isolated beach cost just…
$16,000. So he understands how to find real estate bargains in Ecuador.
Yet Jean Marie has also purchased brand new Bahia condos located right on the malecon facing the bay….here we see Jean Marie and Pascale.
This meas he understands the premium markets as well. He is now specializing in Agricultural properties in Ecuador.

“A writer needs a lot of friends: At least this writer does. These are the friends that don’t mind fielding a call, often out of the blue, and being asked a question of fact or preference, or being willing to read an outline or character study and lend an opinion. You all know who you are, and thanks. Of course, there’s always Joe Cox, who knows more about law and business than I’ll ever know.”

Ted Tidwell is the manufactuer of Purely Green and Bio Wash, two bio degradable chemical products. Many highly trained agronomists are puzzled by the “out-of-the-box” yet obvious effectiveness of these products. The basis appears to be the incredibly small size of the sub-atomic particles that are able to penetrate and deliver nutrients to the plant. It is not a fertilizer but apparently increases the cation exchange capacity, electro-magnetic action of the roots and photosynthesis in the leaves.
This can improve the yield and increase the BRIX plus as a huge bonus is a natural insect deterrent because it is an exceptionally gentle yet powerful degreaser, it dissolves the lipid cellular membrane of small, soft bodied funguses and insects.
Bio Wash has secured Florida state permission to label our “Purely Green (PG) Oil Clean” as a soil amendment and Cation Exchange Stimulant. To the manufacturer’s knowledge, the Cation Exchange Stimulant label is the first ever approved.
Bio Wash is the catalyst that boosts the potential profits. The good value is in agricultural real estate where prices are low… such as Florida (due to the real estate crash and a lot of groves purchased before the crash for conversion to residential use). These groves were never developed and now the developers have abandoned or want to get rid of them at bargain prices.
