Flying Right/Write

by | Jan 27, 2014 | Archives

You can be flying right when you write and self publish.  There are two reasons to write, when you have something to say or when you have something to sell.  In this day and age many of us want to do both, make a statement that makes the world a better place and earn something extra in the process.

My wife Merri and I are in our 46th year of writing and self publishing. I promise, you’ll enjoy the power of the pen.  Your lifestyle can improve by leaps and bounds when the two reasons for writing come together.   Magic works for you, especially when you tap into the National Psyche… where a viral expansion of sales takes place.

We also love sharing times with our friends who are good writers.  They inspire us.  Here we are with super writer Bob Gandt and his wife Anne.

Bob Gandt

Take Bob Gandt’s story.  Bob’s niche is flying and war.  He published his first story at age sixteen – the same year he first soloed an airplane. Since then he has logged something over 25,000 hours, written fourteen books and published countless articles.

Bob has written and published in ways that differ from mine!  Hearing the stories of others like Bob help me (as well as you) better understand how many different ways there are to Write to Sell.

At age 20 he was at the time the youngest aviator in the U.S. Navy.

In 1965 he began his 26 career as a pilot for Pan American World Airways.   His 1995 book, Skygods (Wm. Morrow & Co.), recounts the meteoric descent and crash of the once-great Pan Am.

His 1997 book Bogeys and Bandits (Viking Penguin) told of a training squadron at the same base where he had trained years before.  This book led to a CBS series Pensacola: Wings Of Gold.   Bob worked as writer and technical consultant for this twenty-two-episodes, which starred James Brolin as the commander of a Marine F/A-18 training squadron.

When you get CBS telling your story 22 times… believe me you have tapped into the national psyche!

Being with great writers also helps me help others who want to write.  I have been interviewing great writers to help you see how you too can have a more fulfilling lifestyle and income by writing to sell through self-publishing.

Amazing benefits take place when your writing taps into the national psyche.

Did I mention however that almost no one knows exactly how to do this… tap into the national psyche?  There are so many elements involved that the national psyche is like the weather… unpredictable even to the experts.

Yet there is a process that if you follow… you’ll enjoy success while in pursuit of this bigger goal.

The first step in this process is to focus on a niche and create trust with the readers in that niche.

Now  Bob’s focus is on self publishing.  As an author whose numerous books have been published for and sold through book stores… he now sees the bookstore path filled with dinosaurs.

Bob started with print but took a special step that every writer should know.  This step has helped him add Ebooks to his stable of income producing systems.  Print and Ebooks are all part of the publishing process… but Ebooks makes self publishing easier than ever before.

Bob’s passion is flying and the military.  His books reflect this.  Learning and sharing your passion with like minded souls is just fun.  There is no other way to say it.  This is how life should be lived and self publishing lets you live it this way.
