Bahia is a wonderful city, small, but large enough for services. There is easy access from Quito and elsewhere. There are big investments pouring into the area.

Dirt roads from Quito and up and down the coast have been paved into four and six lane highways.
Now there is rapid change and development in Bahia, Ecuador’s first Ecocity. This is the favorite town in the area with a population of 25,000 people located on the mouth of the river – the Rio Chone.
There are clean beaches, a Museum of archeology and art, organic eco-shrimp farms and tourism.
Over the bridge is where we’ll probably see the fastest growth. The towns north of Bahia but still in the lovely province of Manabi are:
Hacienda Palo Alto is a brand new project… just beginning in Cabuyal, Ecuador. The turnoff to the project is about 12 miles (20 kilometers) north of Canoa.
Currently Cabuyal is a very small town. Expect significant changes over the next few years, mostly due to the upcoming Hacienda Palo Alto.
Highway improvements will reduce the drive from Quito to 4 hours (from 7+ hours last year!).
This is planned to be a gated Community with 24/7 security, underground utilities, fire hydrants, internal paved streets; outdoor showers at the beaches, paved beach access, manager and sales office; clubhouse with pool, bar and gym, helipad, walking trail, children’s playground and beach ranchitos for relaxing.
The plan calls for the majority of the property will be left in its natural state.
The land has creeks and huge ceibo trees, wild orchids, parrots, and howler monkeys.
The beach is mostly sandy and has a gentle slope. There is a nesting area for sea turtles. Waves provide excellent surfing and body surfing. Humpback whales visit July through September.
This is an approved subdivision with 453+ acres and 1 km (.6 mile) of Pacific beach.
There are 166 ~2000 sq. meter (20,000 sq ft.) lots near the beach that are not low-lying, plus fractionals, and homes and some commercial retail. Most of the property is to be left in its natural state.

From Manta to Bahia de Caraquez Ecuador, there are two good beach areas to see. Crucita and San Clemente.
From Crucita the wonderful beach above runs all the way to San Clemente. The point in the above picture shows San Clemente in the far distance.
From Crucita, there are many miles of empty beach walking. At low tide, you can walk round the point and then walk miles to Bahia.

This villa is less than 5 years old and just 2 blocks from the beach in a quiet, residential area of Salinas.

A Salinas Ecuador real estate broker sent me a note about this low cost condo with a $70,000 asking price.
Many clients are looking for a property with a good amount of interior space, in a nice neighborhood, where they can enjoy the beach life, at a price of under $100,000.
You can look just a few blocks off the beach. Like anywhere else, the ocean front properties in Salinas carry a bigger price than those just off the beach. These off beach properties are often in better shape than those right at the water’s edge as they take less wear and tear from the salt air. Another benefit, the owner of an off-beach property doesn’t have the expense of maintaining a seawall, as many oceanfront property owners do.

The MGP GROUP of companies is a UK based company with offices in Florida, USA and Cotacachi, Ecuador announced the ground breaking of their current project, high end quality retirement condominiums in a gated environment in Cotacachi, Ecuador.
In addition to the homes they are offering top quality assisted living services for clients who require them, a heated swimming pool, gymnasium with scheduled & supervised wellness training, Sauna and Steam rooms plus a restaurant, community center and small chapel.
All the living areas of the independent condominiums will overlook beautifully manicured gardens with a back drop of spectacular mountain views. Their plan is to include a supermarket by the time the complex is completed.
