Alkaline promoting foods and alkaline water help promote good health.


This is why yesterday’s message shared a cool health ideas about watermelon and moon bathing.

The pH balance of the bloodstream is one of the most important factors that affect health.

Blood pH should be in the range of 7.4.  If blood pH moves below 6.8 or above 7.8, cells stop functioning and the body dies. The body therefore will react powerfully when the correct pH is threatened.  It will draw calcium from other parts of the body (such as bones) to buffer the blood pH as an example. When the blood’s pH balance is compromised many health problems can occur.

pH stands for “Potential Hydrogen”…  the concentration of hydrogen ions in the blood.  pH measurement is in a logarithmic scale from 0 to 14.  The higher the number the higher the alkalinity and the greater the potential for absorbing more hydrogen ions (and free radicals).    The pH factor controls the speed of the body’s biochemical reactions by by controlling the speed of enzyme activity as well as the speed that electricity moves through our body. 

The higher (more alkaline) the pH of a substance or solution, the more electrical resistance that substance or solution holds. Therefore, electricity travels slower with higher alkalinity and this is good for robust health.

Although it might seem that citrus fruits would have an acidifying effect on the body, the citric acid they contain actually has an alkalinizing effect in the system. 

Note that a food’s acid or alkaline forming tendency in the body has nothing to do with the actual pH of the food itself.

For example, lemons are very acidic, however the end products they produce after digestion and assimilation are very alkaline so, lemons are alkaline forming in the body. Likewise, meat will test alkaline before digestion, but it leaves very acidic residue in the body so, like nearly all animal products, meat is very acid forming.

B) Here is what else you can do to improve your alkalinity in the tissues :

During the Quantum Wealth conference in North Carolina last June, I talked to delegates about using everyday 2 to 3 Oz. of a High pH water.

Why pH Balance Is Important:

The body has a homeostatic mechanism that maintains a range between 7.35 – 7.45 pH in the blood. This mechanism works by depositing and withdrawing acid and alkaline minerals from other locations in the body including the bones, soft tissues, body fluids and saliva. pH levels have a significant correlation to many illness. For example, cancer cannot exist in an alkaline environment. All forms of arthritis are associated with excess acidity.

Essentially every function of the body is dependent on our body’s ability to maintain a precisely balanced pH in the blood. Many critical body systems are dependent on this balance as well. One key system, for example, is the enzyme system. This critical system (along with all electrical functions of our body), is dependent on electrolytes – and electrolyte levels are dependent on pH. Without proper pH levels, it is difficult for the cells to incorporate the necessary nutrients and energy for good health. This potentially leads first, to weakened cells, then to weakened tissue and finally, to actual malfunctioning of body organs themselves.

This situation becomes more serious as the body’s systems, once affected, begin to leave the body open to ‘invaders’ of all types. It has been stated that poor health most often begins after our pH balance is impacted due to a deficiency of minerals – especially electrolyte minerals like sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, lithium, and phosphorus. Most elements of the body have a very definite pH range. Changes in pH levels do not have to be significant before having an effect on chemical reactions both within and outside the cell.

The long term result of our life choices is often a significant imbalance in our body pH levels.
