On a recent trip south I stopped by for a most unusual exam called Cavitat. This exam could alter the way dentistry and medicine.

The exam was recommended by an MD here in North Carolina Dr. Anthony Castiglia, MD

The actual procedure was performed by Dr. John L. Tate, DDS, 2088 E. Main St., Spartanburg, South Carolina 29307 Phone: (864) 582-4441.

The Cavitat is an ultrasonographic imaging device that scans the jaw bones and graphically shows any small cavitations that may be hidden beneath the teeth. Unfortunately many who have had teeth pulled, operated on or had root canals, have tiny, invisible cavities left behind where roots and nerves previously lay. These cavities may hold bacteria and as they become encapsulated the bacteria mutates and produces all types of untold toxins, which can create all types of health havoc. I have had a jaw infection, which I nor my dentist or doctor have been able to get under control. It is nothing serious on the surface, but sure enough the Cavitat showed one substantial place where bone density is missing. The cavity itself is not a serious thing but the toxins coming from there can be a continual drag as well as creator of various types of disease.

You can learn more about the cavitat at This site has numerous links but one that was of particular interest was the link to

This contains an article by several doctors from the Departments of Oral Biology, Endodontics and Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Oslo, in Oslo, Norway. The article explains that it recently has been recognized that oral infection, especially periodontitis, may affect the course and pathogenesis of a number of diseases, including cardiovascular disease, bacterial pneumonia, diabetes mellitus, and low birth weight.

This is information everyone who has had a tooth removed or a root canal should know and I recommend studying this site.
