Merri and I give enormous thanks for you. You will see why in a moment, but first consider three facts.
We know people starving somewhere in the world, but from 1960 to 2000, the calories available per person in developing countries rose from 1,900 to 2,650. This is progress.
We know pollution is a problem but from 1960 to 2000 particle pollution in the US dropped from 145 ppm to 15 ppm. This is growth.
We know there are social inequities but in the past century global consumption increased six times. This is positive social evolution.
Sure humanity has challenges and always will. For these challenges, let us give thanks. Without gravity, we would not have the strength to reach the moon. Without challenges, we could not grow. Without concerns we would not have love, understanding and compassion.
Here are eight words that can help you embrace your challenges in the year ahead. These are Merri’s and my mainstay when we do not know what to do and our anchor when we are overwhelmed. If you use this motto, you can conquer any challenge.
“Action is they duty. Reward not thy concern.”
Merri and I thank you for allowing us to serve you. We look forward with gusto to serving and helping you tackle your challenges.
Speaking of gusto let this day bring you innumerable feasts even beyond any special meals. Enjoy feasts of love, care, happiness, joy, growth, experiences, broaden horizons and yes, enjoy all the wonderful experiences that are sent as a gift to you.
